چکیده

Background and Objective: Plastic surgeons face challenging conditions when dealing with soft tissue injuries or defects involving the lower part of leg proximal foot. The objective current study is to compare single-staged reverse sural artery flaps two-staged interpolated in distal limb injuries.

Methods: It was a prospective carried out at Department Surgery, Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital, Sialkot, Pakistan, over 5 years from 2015 2020. Sixty-eight (n = 68) patients soft-tissue were enrolled randomly allotted two-stage flap design (group A) single-stage B). measured outcomes included frequency flap-tip necrosis, epidermolysis, partial total loss, additional procedures needed for managing these complications.

Results: Out all patients, 72% male gender 28% females mean age 38.38 ± 10.76 years. In group A, there 6% cases where tip necrosis only impediment as compared 17% B. epidermolysis seen 12% 35% B whereas A required secondary (47%). Paired t-test used calculate statistical significance outcome between two groups (p-value 0.0491).

Conclusion: procedure results fewer complications procedure. However, shorter hospital stay satisfying who did not report any this procedure.

Effectiveness of Reverse Sural Artery Flap in the Management of Wheel Spoke Injuries of the Heel
OBJECTIVE Soft tissue injuries at the level of lower extremities, plantar, and dorsal foot pose a surgical challenge for reconstructive surgeons. This kind of injury commonly occurs when lower limbs get stuck in between the spokes of the wheel. Reverse sural artery flap has been proven to be an effective option to cover such defects. The aim of this study is to analyze the demographic variables...
متن کاملVersatility of Reverse Sural Artery Flap for Heel Reconstruction
Introduction: The heel has two parts, weight bearing and non-weight bearing part. Soft tissue heel reconstruction has been a challenge due to its complex nature of anatomy, weight bearing part of foot and the mechanism of injury requiring reconstruction. The pattern of injury includes from simple laceration to a complex wound with loss of soft tissue and fracture involving various degrees of ca...
متن کاملRole of reverse sural artery flap for soft tissue defects of lower limb: experience with 66 cases.
BACKGROUND Reverse sural artery flap has proved to be a good option to reconstruct soft tissue defects of lower limb and foot region. Different studies, however, speak of its use in different areas depending upon the individual experiences. Various modifications of the flap technique have been described in various studies. This study highlights many of the modifications in a single series and t...
متن کاملHow Much Can We do by Reverse Superficial Sural Artery Flap to Potentiate Its Effects: Introducing Spout Sural Flap as a New Modification
BACKGROUND Due to shortage of local donor tissue and unreliable blood supply, free flaps were the mainstay of treatment for tissue defects in the lower leg and foot region, but it requires a qualified microvascular surgeon. Recently, attention has been paid to reverse superficial sural artery flap (RSSAF) and its modifications as a good alternative to pave the way to simple and friendly techni...
متن کاملThe Reverse Superficial Sural Artery Flap Revisited for Complex Lower Extremity and Foot Reconstruction
BACKGROUND Soft-tissue defects of the distal lower extremity and foot present significant challenges to the reconstructive surgeon. The reverse superficial sural artery flap (RSSAF) is a popular option for many of these difficult wounds. Our initial experience with this flap at multiple institutions resulted in a 50% failure rate, mostly because of critical venous congestion. To overcome this, ...
